Xenia School Board Meeting 10/05/2026
On October 5th several members of our community spoke up for the protection of the children in our community who regularly use the Xenia YMCA for school sponsored activities. Xenia School's swim season has already begun, and Xenia swim teams regularly use the Xenia YMCA facility for their events and practices.

Xenia School Board Resolution
The Xenia School Board has written and received legal counsel on a document to send out to all parents in the district. The Xenia School Board will have an opportunity to add this resolution to the agenda at an upcoming meeting. School sponsored swim events and extracurricular activities regularly occur at the Xenia YMCA.
Every parent and guardian in the school district should want this transparent resolution passed so they as families can make informed decisions to protect their children. Encourage the Xenia School Board to quickly pass this resolution which will further the awareness of the YMCA's dangerous and unclear policies that do not prioritize the protection of children in their facilities.

You Can Speak Up for Women and Girls Safety and Privacy!
The YMCA may tell you that they are following state law, but that is not true; there is no state law regarding locker room use that applies to a private business. This policy is completely their choice.
Every student on the swim team and every parent should express their frustrations to the YMCA staff and leadership. Call the YMCA, ask to speak to the director and ask why they will not protect minor girls from these dangerous experiences that so many young girls have already had in women's locker rooms. Why are they keeping secrets and exploiting children in our community for their organizations financial gain? Email the YMCA board members and corporate staff. If enough people speak up, perhaps the YMCA will realize the frustration that many families are facing and will change their practice of letting men enter women's locker rooms. No parent or guardian would ever want their daughter to have her privacy violated by a man who the YMCA has allowed to roam free in a woman's locker-room based on his feelings. Sex based spaces are necessary for this very reason!
The Ohio Save Women's Sports Act was enacted into law as part of House Bill 68 on January 24, 2024, when the Ohio General Assembly successfully overrode a gubernatorial veto. This current Ohio law provides protection for students in every state K-12 school and university-level sports division designated for biological females.
Ohio House Bill 798 would extend those protections to all public facilities in Ohio (prisons, airports, libraries, state parks, etc.) Unfortunately, the YMCA is a private organization, so this law would still not apply to them.
There are likely only two possible paths for change at the YMCA. They need to be sued for discriminating against the rights of women and young girls, or they need to hear from many people who are angry over their policies.
